When you ride a bus, you will meet passengers from different walks of life. And if you are lucky enough, you may find a dog as your bus-mate.
Gemma Louise Burton was going to her school when an unlikely passenger climbed the bus. It was a dog, but sadly, her owner was not with her.
A case of a missing dog?
Gemma noticed that the dog was wearing a harness. It seemed healthy, so there was a high chance that she had an owner. During the entire 20-minute ride, the dog was sniffing around the bus.
She said that the dog looked like she was looking for someone. Finally, the dog decided to take some rest and sit in one of the chairs.
Gemma got her chance and took a picture of the dog. She then posted it on Facebook where it became instantly viral. It had more than 3.6K shares and over 400 comments. In the same post, Gemma appealed to the possible owner to collect the dog at the bus station.
People want to adopt her
Because the photo went viral, animal rescue called Cliffe Kennels and Rescue, announced that the pup was in their care. According to the law in the UK, the kennel needed to keep her for a week. They had to wait for someone to claim the pup. In case no owner arrived, the dog would be put up for adoption.
The staff checked the dog and found that she was mostly healthy. She was estimated to be three years old, and her breed was Mastiff cross. They named the dog Olive after a character in “On The Buses,” a British show in the ‘70s.
The kennel hoped that someone would adopt Olive. However, this would not be a problem, as they received lots of inquiries about the dog. They sent pre-adoption forms for screening purposes, hoping that they would find the perfect owner.
