Rachael Rodrigues was so thrilled when she received her graduation present from her parents seven years ago. However, the gift came as a surprise to her, mainly because her parents were not a big fan of dogs.
According to Rachael, her parents are both anti-dog. Although they have always had cats, the couple was hesitant about getting a pup because of the additional work, like training, walking, and grooming, that comes with it.
How Rachael quickly fell in love with her dog was not surprising for her at all. However, what shocked her was how hard her father fell for the pup, who they named Oliver. Rachael said that from the very start, her dad was smitten.
Usually, Rachael’s dad would walk around the house doing nothing but carrying the dog around. During Oliver’s first week at his new home, he seemed to have a stomachache. He found it hard to sleep at night. So, Rachael’s father decided to sleep on the floor, sharing a blanket with Oliver and rubbing the pup’s stomach the entire night.
Rachael’s dad may not admit it, but he has always treated Oliver like one of his kids. Of course, the sweet pup loves every second of it. When nap time comes, Rachael’s dad will go cover Oliver up with a blanket. Then, he would tuck the pup in like a giant toddler, which, without a doubt, is one of the sweetest and cutest sights in the world.
Rachael’s father never wanted to have a dog, but now, he is completely in love with Oliver. The pup loves his dad right back too. Rachael got the chance to record the pair’s naptime routine, and she said that it pretty much sums up their relationship. Her dad treats Oliver like a baby, and the pup laps it all up.

So you want to know more about me, eh? Well, I am a Canadian, husband, and father of two young men.
I would say boys but they are not really “boys” anymore. They are 19 and 17. But they will always be my little ones. :-)
And, of course, we also have a dog. He is an Affenpinscher. Also affectionately known as a Monkey Dog.
His name is Monty. Yes, it is after Monty Python as he is a funny, crazy character.
Dogs have always been a part of my life. My parents started and owned a Dog and Cat boarding kennel just 20 minutes north of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia.
I started this website as a way to give back to the dog community. Which is full of many extraordinary dogs and owners doing many different and exciting things.
I hope you come back often to enjoy the wondrous stories I find.
Thank You for your time and interest.
