Food vlogging and becoming an Instagram star are some of the hippest jobs people can take on right now. It may require a certain level of expertise, or perhaps you could just be born with the necessary skills to be one of either. The pup we’re covering in this story had what it took to become a star, but he almost didn’t realize his potential if he wasn’t rescued.Meet Popeye, an Instagram star who’s making waves around the internet as a foodie dog. When Popeye was rescued by her mom, Ivy Diep, he was all alone. He was so skinny, with long matted hair, and he was filthy. All the signs were pointing to the fact that his previous owners abandoned him.Diep tried to look for Popeye’s owners, but nobody stepped forward. Of course, she was not going to abandon this poor pup in that condition. She brought him home and took care of him. He was cleaned, neutered and he was able to eat healthy from that point on, so much so that he regained some much-needed weight. Then Diep noticed something about Popeye, he loves eating food.Well, all dogs like eating food, you probably already knew that, but Popeye likes eating human food. Diep investigated further by bringing him along with her when she was about to eat out, and she stated that the pup was very “gentlemanlike” when eating out. He behaved himself and sat still like a picture of him was about to be taken. After that one instance, Popeye is always going nuts whenever Diep and her family is about to head out, as if to say: “I know you guys are eating out, I want to go too!” Diep, having a soft spot for the pooch, always brought him along. She started snapping photos of him sitting still in front of human food and decided to create an Instagram account for him, and the rest is history.Credits: popeyethefoodie
So you want to know more about me, eh? Well, I am a Canadian, husband, and father of two young men.
I would say boys but they are not really “boys” anymore. They are 19 and 17. But they will always be my little ones. :-)
And, of course, we also have a dog. He is an Affenpinscher. Also affectionately known as a Monkey Dog.
His name is Monty. Yes, it is after Monty Python as he is a funny, crazy character.
Dogs have always been a part of my life. My parents started and owned a Dog and Cat boarding kennel just 20 minutes north of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia.
I started this website as a way to give back to the dog community. Which is full of many extraordinary dogs and owners doing many different and exciting things.
I hope you come back often to enjoy the wondrous stories I find.
Thank You for your time and interest.
