Dog Survives On Seaweeds And Stones After Falling Off A Cliff 550 Ft High

A traveler couple on holidays with friends lost their pet dog while on vacation off a cliff on Eype, in southwest Dorset, England. According to the owners, the pet dog named Shadow accidentally slipped while chasing off a sheep, causing him to fall off into a ledge. Wayne and Amber Whiting, together with their friends and the Coastguard, tried their best to search for the missing animal but could not find any trace of him.

The owners lamented that they lost hope of finding Shadow after a few weeks of searching. The Whitings thought that the animal died or someone stole him. It’s a painful thought that they learned to accept as days went on. Luckily, Shadow somehow managed his way off the ledge despite breaking a rear leg and losing off half his weight. Another tourist finally spotted Shadow while the canine lurked along the foot of the hills near Eype beach. The traveler who found him contacted the animal welfare group Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who later found the owner’s identity through the microchip embedded. Amber Whiting bursts into tears upon receiving a call from the R.S.P.C.A. They were in disbelief upon hearing the good news about their missing Shar-Pei dog. The Whitings immediately went to pick up Shadow, but they could not initially recognize him as he was in such a sorry state.

They later found after a vet check that he survived by eating seaweeds, sticks, and stones he found around where he stayed. The vet also supposes that Shadow fell and trapped himself but eventually found his way down to the bottom of the cliff. They all agreed that it was a miracle he survived and now getting stronger. Shadow expects to fully recover as he works his way to regain his lost weight.
