Mom Felt Relieved About Her Dog’s Defecation Problem After Seeing A Vet

A senior dog was brought to the vet clinic because her owner was worried about her. Dr. Blue met up with them, and the mom explained the situation. The mother would bring her dog, Kaylee, outside to urinate and defecate every night. Kaylee would come back panting. She would urinate, but she would have difficulties defecating. She would try, but every time she does, she is unsuccessful. Her mom read something on the internet about distended stomachs. This got her worried about Kaylee. Dr. Blue explained that the internet could be helpful. However, it could also provide unnecessary concern. It is always better to go to a vet to find out what the real situation is. Dr. Blue suggested that they do an x-ray to see what’s causing all the pain and if bloating is present. He wants to check if it was caused by a tumor too. Since Kaylee is a senior dog, one potential cause could be cancer. It is quite common for senior dogs to develop the condition, but if it is detected early, it can save the dog’s life. The owner was concerned and did not want to see Kaylee in such pain. The doctor went ahead and did the x-ray and found out what was causing her bowel movement problems. Kaylee did not have a distended stomach or cancer, which is fantastic news. The pain was caused by spinal arthritis. The condition makes it painful to defecate. Dr. Blue talked to the mom about it, and she was glad that it was nothing serious. The doctor will give Kaylee medication that would make it easier for her to excrete her waste. She will also be given an oral medication to ease the pain. The doctor assured Kaylee’s mom that the arthritis was common for Kaylee’s age. It was nothing to feel guilty about because there was nothing that the owner could do to prevent it. Kaylee’s mom is just happy that Kaylee will be okay. Source Animal Planet via YouTube
